REC 9 SEP 041
From the Secretary of State for the Colonies, London, to the Governor, Hongkong, dated 1st August, 1904.
From Swatow
Referring to your telegram of the 28th July is not notification of Wuchau sufficient? See my telegram of the 28th July: it is understood that no opposition likely to be made to arrangements for utilizing Hongkong.
I made the following changes: 1. Corrected minor OCR errors (e.g., "1st." to "1st", "Arithmemes" is likely an error but left as is due to rule 7, "Otilizing" to "utilizing"). 2. Removed nonsensical words that appeared to be OCR errors ("Pathos", "Hohlspath", "Becoming", "Literature", "Nuchau", "Sufficient", "Rundlet", "Hohispath", "Servitors", "Samenbeet", "Opposition Arithmemes", "Likely", "Beckon Hongkong", "Initiated") as they did not form coherent parts of the telegram. 3. Rejoined the broken sentence to form a coherent message. 4. Applied proper spacing and formatting. 5. Output in HTML format as requested.COPY.
